  11. CAMBRIDGE, Mass., July 29, 1991—ON Technology, Inc. today announced version 2.0
  12. of its award-winning On Location software, a Macintosh desk accessory that
  13. dramatically reduces the time it takes to find and view files.  On Location
  14. 2.0, which is scheduled to ship in the third quarter of 1991, offers
  15. significant enhancements and new features, including System 7.0 compatibility.

  17. On Location indexes the name and text of files on any volume, including hard
  18. disks, network servers, diskettes and CD-ROMs. Feedback from hundreds of
  19. existing users was incorporated into version 2.0.  The new features include
  20. searching for numbers in files, searching with AND or OR, printing and copying
  21. the file list, significant interface refinements, System 7.0 compatibility and
  22. user-defined timing for background indexing.  On Location 2.0 is even faster
  23. than the original version.

  25. “The key benefit of On Location is the speed and ease with which you can find
  26. words and numbers within files in addition to finding by file name,” said Kim
  27. Agricola, product manager for On Location.  “As you type a few words or a
  28. phrase in its search window, On Location immediately begins looking for your
  29. file.”

  32. who have purchased On Location includes BP International, Exxon, Monsanto,
  33. Eastman Kodak, Mitre, The New York Times, Lockheed, and NASA.

  42. Instant Update™, ON's new collaborative application for Macintosh networks that
  43. helps groups of people communicate with unprecedented ease and effectiveness
  44. through live documents.

  46. ON Technology is also offering an On Location developer's kit.  The kit allows
  47. developers to incorporate the power of On Location's search capabilities into
  48. their own applications.  Apple Computer's Apple Integrated Systems group is
  49. using the developer's kit in their Customer Support Network, a distributed file
  50. and text search application.

  63. retail price is $129.95. Registered 1.0 users can upgrade for $20.00, plus
